Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Sponsors Second Forum for Associations in the Region’s Governorates and Villages
The Village Development Charitable Society (Tanmia) is set to host a major forum in Jeddah on 28 January to drive rural development “from impact to sustainability.”
The second Forum for Associations in the Governorates and Villages of the Makkah Region is being organized under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region.
The forum aims to create a step-change in the performance of non-profit associations by establishing an integrated system for measuring impact and strengthening its effectiveness. It focuses on raising awareness among village-level associations of impact measurement concepts and their direct link to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, while equipping them to use modern tools such as key performance indicators (KPIs), the Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology and theory of change models.
Tanmia’s Chairman, Eng. Mohammed Omar Al‑Nahari, said the second edition of the forum continues the society’s drive to move the non-profit sector into a new phase centered on creating and measuring impact.
He described the event as a strategic platform to unify efforts, boost the efficiency of non-profit associations in the governorates and villages of the Makkah Region, and ensure their work is closely aligned with national development goals. Al‑Nahari added that Tanmia places special emphasis on empowering non-profit leaders, building their institutional capabilities and deepening partnerships with government, private-sector and academic entities.
This, he noted, is key to securing the financial and operational sustainability of development initiatives and turning successful experiences into models that can be scaled up and replicated. He underlined that measuring impact is essential to guaranteeing the effectiveness and continuity of development efforts.
The forum also seeks to promote transparency and collaborative learning by providing a shared platform for knowledge and experience exchange and for developing practical recommendations to adopt unified national frameworks.
In parallel, it aims to connect associations with universities and research centers to develop applied studies that improve the efficiency of development work and help deliver sustainable impact.
More than 300 entities and non-profit associations from the governorates and villages of the Makkah Region are expected to take part, alongside over 1,000 participants from across the non-profit sector and among decision-makers. The event will include the signing of at least 10 cooperation agreements and strategic partnerships, in addition to panel discussions and specialized workshops featuring a select group of experts and specialists.
The program will showcase more than 10 success stories from village associations that have delivered tangible impact in their communities. An accompanying exhibition will bring together leading organizations that play a key role in creating impact, helping to strengthen integration, build partnerships and support the long-term sustainability of development initiatives.
The forum is being held as part of the development role undertaken by the Village Development Charitable Society (Tanmia) in the Makkah Region.
Tanmia’s work extends across 17 governorates and around 4,000 villages, and it includes more than 480 associations and social committees serving over six million beneficiaries. The society’s mission is to develop individual skills, improve living standards, support development projects in governorates and villages, raise social awareness in rural areas, and identify and harness community leaders in ways that advance sustainable development and amplify the impact of non-profit associations throughout the region.
