Saudi Team Wins Platinum Award at International Standards Olympiad

The Saudi Standards Team won three international awards at the 21st International Standards Olympiad, held in Korea from August 12 to 14, with the participation of 105 male and female students representing 11 countries, marking another achievement for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in international competitions.

 Saudi Arabia won the platinum award, the Olympiad’s highest award, presented to only one team in the competition, along with a silver award and a bronze award. The students were prepared by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), the Ministry of Education, and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO).

 The platinum award is the Kingdom’s first since it began participating in the Olympiad and represents the competition’s highest honor, awarded to only one team among all participating teams.

 The achievement builds on the Kingdom’s results in the previous edition of the Olympiad, in which Saudi students won three awards: one gold and two silver.

 With these results, the Kingdom’s tally at the International Standards Olympiad since it began participating in 2024 has risen to eight international awards: one platinum, one gold, three silver, two bronze, and one Honorable Mention.

 The International Standards Olympiad aims to raise students’ awareness of the importance of standards and their role in everyday life, the economy, and industry. It also seeks to develop teamwork, critical thinking, and analytical skills and promote the application of standards and quality concepts in addressing various challenges.
