AMAK Announces Major Multi-Metal Discovery in Najran Region

Almasane Alkobra Mining Company (AMAK), one of Saudi Arabia’s leading national mining companies, today announced a significant new discovery of Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn)  Gold (Au), and Silver (Ag), mineral resources from within one of its very prospective exploration leases within Najran region.

Since acquiring the lease in September 2024, AMAK has conducted an extensive exploration program aimed at unlocking the deposit’s full potential. The company rapidly advanced to a diamond core drilling program in February 2025, with more than 27,000 m completed to date. Preliminary internal estimates indicate a potential combined resource estimate exceeding 11 million tons of Copper, Zinc, Gold and Silver bearing ore, with notable resource addition upside as the program continues to advance.

Current drilling has focussed on less than 10 percent of the total lease area, with potential significant upside to increase resource base. Geophysical surveys are underway across the wider lease to identify additional high-priority targets, which will be supported by a planned additional ~30,000 m of diamond drilling scheduled for 2026.

Based on current results, AMAK intends to release a maiden JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate and a concept study outlining the development of a new mining front based on this exciting new discovery in 2026. Our future mine development will build on AMAK’s strong foundation of ESG stewardship, which underpins all our operations across the Kingdom.

The new discovery is located approximately 100 km from AMAK’s existing processing hub, offering potential infrastructure and operational synergies.

Geoff Day, CEO of AMAK, said:  “This discovery represents another important milestone in AMAK’s growth journey and reaffirms the Kingdom’s vast geological potential. As we continue to explore and develop new mineral resources, we are proud to contribute to Saudi Vision 2030’s objective of building a world-class, sustainable mining sector.  AMAK now has 25 exploration leases across the Kingdom covering more than 1,800 km2 and I remain confident this latest discovery announcement is the start of more such announcement in the future.”

“This announcement highlights the success of our systematic exploration approach and our team’s technical capabilities. With multiple high-priority targets still to be tested, we see strong potential for further resource expansion across the lease with our team now working on a development plan to bring this exciting new discovery into production as soon as practically possible.”, he added

This new discovery reinforces AMAK’s position as a national mining champion committed to responsible growth, value creation, and advancing Saudi Arabia’s transformation into a global hub for sustainable mineral development.
