The Prophet’s Pulpit: A Historical and Spiritual Landmark of the Prophet’s Mosque

The Prophet’s pulpit is a primary historical landmark within the Prophet’s Mosque, established in the eighth year of the Hijra to ensure the growing number of Muslims could see and hear the Prophet (peace be upon him).

Originally constructed from tamarisk wood with three steps, it replaced a palm tree trunk that the Prophet had previously leaned against while preaching. The pulpit’s significance is underscored by several Hadiths, including the Prophet's description of the area between his house and the pulpit as a "garden from the gardens of Paradise."

Located on the western side of Al-Rawdah al-Sharifah, the current pulpit stands five meters tall. It features an entrance inscribed with the Shahada, a two-part wooden door, and a staircase for the imam. A gilded metal railing surrounds the structure, reflecting the continuous care and architectural maintenance provided to the Prophet’s Mosque.
