Al-Salam Gate: A Major Historical Entrance Linking the Sa'i and Mataf
Al-Salam Gate, also known as Gate 19, is a key historical entrance to the Grand Mosque on the eastern side within the Sa'i area basement, strategically located near the Abbas Gate to provide direct access to the Mataf and facilitate efficient movement for the high volume of pilgrims and Umrah performers during peak seasons.
Throughout successive Saudi expansions, Al-Salam Gate has been developed with advanced engineering and architectural standards while preserving its Islamic character. The gate features traditional inscriptions and decorations alongside modern lighting and guidance systems.
To ensure the safety and smooth transit of thousands of daily worshippers, the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque manages an integrated system of field and organizational services at this vital entrance.
