SABIC Wins Edison Awards for Sixth Consecutive Year

The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has won Edison Awards for the sixth consecutive year in recognition of its excellence in innovation for five innovative solutions across three categories: Materials Science, Energy and Climate Resiliency, and Water, Food and Agriculture.

SABIC received one gold award, two silver awards, and two bronze awards during the ceremony held in Fort Myers, Florida, United States, with the participation of a select group of innovation leaders and experts from various sectors.

SABIC CEO and Executive Board Member Dr. Faisal Al-Faqeer stated: “Our recognition for the sixth consecutive year reflects our relentless pursuit of innovation by prioritizing innovative solutions that focus on market needs, ensuring that innovation remains the main driver of our growth. This achievement reinforces our progress toward realizing our vision of becoming the preferred global leader in the chemicals industry."

In the Materials Science category, SABIC won three awards for a number of innovative solutions, including the NORYL™ (V0150TW / V0150IR2) resin designed for the solar energy market, the reactive oligomer solution ULTEM™ SU3102P used to reinforce thermoplastics and utilized in the manufacturing of thermoset composites in the aerospace sector, and the LNP™ ELCRES™ NP copolymer, which provides reliable industrial solutions to address challenges associated with persistent chemicals with potential health impacts.

In the Energy and Climate Resiliency category, SABIC was recognized for its innovative HybSi® membrane-based solution, which replaces energy-intensive distillation processes when drying of chemicals, reducing energy consumption by 70%.

In the Water, Food and Agriculture category, SABIC Agri-Nutrients was recognized for developing a process to convert organic tree waste and mineral fertilizer blends into bio-organic mineral granules that enhance soil health, paving the way for a new phase in the production of sustainable enhanced urea.
