KSrelief Launches Project to Rehabilitate Maternity and Childhood Center in Socotra, Yemen
King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) launched a project yesterday to restore the maternity and childhood center in Yemen's Qulensya District, Socotra, as part of a broader program to rehabilitate and equip 11 health facilities across three governorates.
Attendees were briefed on the project's components and rehabilitation work, which aims to improve the center's operational efficiency and readiness to provide healthcare services to beneficiaries.
The project includes replacing damaged concrete roofs; maintaining doors, windows, and the electrical network; upgrading water and sewage systems; and constructing two additional restrooms. It also covers supplying and installing a solar energy system, along with devices, equipment, supplies, and furniture for medical and administrative use. These improvements are expected to enhance the working environment and the quality of healthcare services for mothers and children.
Director of the Public Health and Population Office in Socotra Dr. Issa Al-Shanqabi commended the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief to rehabilitate health facilities and strengthen the local sector's capacity.
He said the project would help improve healthcare services for mothers and children in Qulensya.
Saudi Arabia's humanitarian and relief efforts, delivered through KSrelief, aim to support Yemen's health sector, improve medical facility infrastructure, and expand access to services in underserved areas.
