Under the patronage of Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel, the Ministry of Health concluded the fourth Inherited Blood Disorders Summit (IHBD Summit 2026), which was held in Riyadh from February 5 to 7.
The summit was organized as part of the ministry’s efforts to advance the healthcare system, strengthen scientific research, and support health policies related to hereditary blood disorders across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the Health Sector Transformation Program under Saudi Vision 2030.
The summit aims to develop integrated national care models for hereditary blood disorders, enhance scientific knowledge exchange, support innovation in gene therapy and precision medicine, and improve patients’ quality of life through education and sustainable support programs.
Through the scientific sessions, the ministry underscored the importance of unifying national efforts and establishing an integrated care model that links diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. The summit also reflected the ministry’s focus on strengthening prevention and early detection, as well as reducing complications through the development of national care pathways and the adoption of best health practices.
The ministry continues to reinforce the Kingdom’s position as a leading scientific and regulatory platform that brings together experts, decision-makers, and local and international partners in the field of blood disorders, while supporting scientific research and medical innovation to advance future solutions that enhance the quality of life of patients and their families.
