Saudi Arabia Opens Guest of Honor Pavilion at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2026

The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission today inaugurated the Kingdom’s pavilion as Guest of Honor at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2026, which runs from May 29 to June 7 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

The Kingdom’s pavilion showcases the breadth of Saudi Arabia’s cultural landscape through an integrated program including panel discussions and poetry evenings with Saudi writers and intellectuals, alongside live Saudi performing arts presentations inside and outside the exhibition grounds.

The pavilion features a manuscripts exhibition displaying historically significant Saudi manuscripts, a dedicated section for Saudi publications, and a heritage replicas section showcasing reproductions of key archaeological artifacts from the Kingdom. A handicrafts area will invite visitors to explore traditional crafts through live artisan presentations. The Saudi musical instruments section will introduce visitors to traditional instruments, while the Saudi fashion section will showcase traditional men’s and women’s attire from different regions of the Kingdom. The film corner will showcase snippets of notable Saudi films. Visitors can also experience the traditional “Majlis” reception, registered in the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List, representing Saudi heritage and hospitality.

Commission CEO Dr. Abdullatif Abdulaziz Al Wasel said that Saudi Arabia’s selection as Guest of Honor at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair, one of Asia’s leading cultural events, reflects the strong cultural relationship between the two countries. He noted that the participation provides an exceptional opportunity to introduce Malaysian and Asian audiences to the abundance and diversity of Saudi culture.

The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission is leading the Kingdom’s participation as Guest of Honor at the fair through a broad Saudi cultural and literary delegation that includes several entities from across the Ministry of Culture ecosystem. Prominent national entities are also participating, offering visitors a comprehensive window into Saudi culture.

The event reaffirms the Kingdom’s efforts towards showcasing Saudi Arabia’s cultural landscape and further strengthening global cultural collaboration.
