Saudi Arabia Condemns Rapid Support Forces Attacks on Civilians and Aid Convoys

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the criminal attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces against Al-Kuweik Military Hospital, a humanitarian aid convoy affiliated with the World Food Programme, and a vehicle transporting displaced civilians. These attacks resulted in the killing of tens of unarmed civilians, including women and children, and caused damage to humanitarian facilities and aid convoys in the states of North and South Kordofan.

 The Kingdom affirms that these acts are unjustifiable under any circumstances and constitute flagrant violations of all humanitarian norms and relevant international agreements.

 The Kingdom calls on the Rapid Support Forces to immediately cease these violations and to fulfill their moral and humanitarian obligations by ensuring the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need, in accordance with international humanitarian law and the provisions of the Jeddah Declaration (Commitment to Protect Civilians in Sudan), signed on May 11, 2023.

 The Kingdom also reiterates its firm position in support of Sudan’s unity, security, and stability, the necessity of preserving its legitimate institutions, and its rejection of foreign interference and the continued actions of certain parties in supplying illicit weapons, mercenaries, and foreign fighters—despite their stated support for a political solution—conduct that constitutes a primary factor in prolonging the conflict and exacerbating the suffering of the Sudanese people.
