Maysan’s Mountain Rose Farms Blooms into a Seasonal Visitor Attraction

Set amid the mountainous landscape of Maysan Governorate in Makkah Region, rose farms thrive thanks to the area’s mild climate, fertile soil, and abundant seasonal rainfall.

 The farms have become a favored stop for visitors during the blooming season, where the scent of roses blends with the surrounding mountain scenery to create a tableau that showcases the governorate’s agricultural richness and tourism appeal.

 Rose farms are scattered across mountain slopes and valleys, cultivating both Taif roses and Sultani roses in a display that reflects Maysan’s agricultural diversity. Surrounded by highland peaks, morning mist, and mountain breezes, the farms offer a distinctive setting that attracts nature lovers, photographers, and rural tourism enthusiasts.

 Farmer Mohammed Al-Harthi told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that Maysan’s rose farms benefit from the region’s moderate mountain climate, which provides ideal conditions for healthy shrub growth and production throughout the season.

 He noted that peak production comes in April each year, when the flowers bloom in abundance, and harvesting begins at first light to preserve the roses’ quality and rich fragrance.

 Al-Harthi said Maysan produces both Taif roses and Sultani roses, prized by growers for their quality and distinctive aroma. During the flowering season, visitors are drawn to the farms to learn about rose cultivation and harvesting while enjoying the natural beauty of the mountains south of Taif.

 The farms have become a major destination for vacationers traveling along the scenic tourist route south of Taif, offering an experience that combines nature, agricultural production, and local heritage while supporting the growth of rural and agricultural tourism in the governorate.
