Al-Kharj Date Production Reaches 90,400 Tons, Valued at SAR723 Million

Al-Kharj Governorate has cemented its position as one of the Kingdom's leading date-producing regions, supported by abundant agricultural resources, extensive palm groves, diverse date varieties, and an integrated production, processing, and marketing ecosystem that contributes to food security, agricultural development, and the added value of national products.
 According to the National Center for Palms and Dates, Al-Kharj has an annual production capacity of approximately 90.4 million kilograms of dates, equivalent to more than 90,400 tons. The governorate's annual date production is valued at around SAR723 million and generates more than 6,000 seasonal jobs during the harvest and marketing season. The Khalas Al-Kharj variety remains the governorate's signature date, earning recognition both locally and internationally alongside several other cultivars.
 The governorate also hosts annual promotional and marketing events to support the sector, most notably the Al-Kharj Dates and Saudi Coffee Festival. The festival's second edition, held between January and February 2026, attracted nearly two million visitors, generated approximately SAR11 million in economic activity for the governorate's commercial and tourism sectors, and created more than 2,000 seasonal jobs.
