‘AI Principles in Media’ Document Wins International Recognition at WSIS Prizes 2026
The AI Principles in Media document project, launched by the Saudi Media Forum in partnership with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), has received a certificate of recognition in the Media category at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2026, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva.
The project was selected for the global shortlist in the Media category from among projects and initiatives submitted by organizations from around the world, in recognition of the document's contribution to promoting the responsible and trustworthy use of artificial intelligence technologies in the media sector.
The AI Principles in Media document, unveiled by Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary during his opening speech at the previous edition of the Saudi Media Forum, serves as a national reference framework for the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across all stages of the media workflow. These include data collection, content creation and editing, publication and distribution, as well as impact measurement and audience engagement.
The framework aims to enhance the efficiency of media organizations, foster innovation, improve content quality, and mitigate risks associated with misinformation, AI-generated content, and deepfake technologies.
Chairman of the Saudi Media Forum Mohammed Fahad Al-Harthi noted that the document marks an important step in advancing AI use in the media sector and reflects the integration of efforts between the media ecosystem and SDAIA to build a safer and more reliable digital media environment.
He added that the document helps media organizations adopt AI technologies within clear governance frameworks that promote innovation while upholding professional and ethical standards and strengthening public trust in media content.
