Al-Ghamama Mosque: A Historical Gem in Madinah
Al-Ghamama Mosque, one of the most prominent historical landmarks in Madinah, is deeply connected to the life of the Prophet (PBUH) as the site where he performed the Eid and Istisqa (rain-seeking) prayers, standing as a testament to the ancient prophetic legacy and the depth of Islamic history in the city.
The mosque is located about 200 meters west of the Prophet’s Mosque. It was named Al-Ghamama (meaning “the cloud”) because it is said that a cloud shaded the Prophet while he prayed at that very spot.
