FIFA Recognizes KAUST as First Research Institute in Middle East and Asia
FIFA has designated the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) as its first research institute in the Middle East and Asia to support the development of innovative football research.
This recognition underscores KAUST’s commitment to fostering integration between sports, academic research, and industry through advanced, high-level research initiatives based on rigorous scientific methodologies, contributing to the advancement of football-related studies.
KAUST President Professor Sir Edward Byrne emphasized that the university’s selection as the fifth FIFA Research Institute in the world and the first in the region represents a significant achievement that reflects the growing Saudi presence on the international football scene.
This accreditation comes as part of national efforts to invest in research and development and promote the knowledge economy, supporting the Saudi Vision 2030 objectives of building an advanced sports system based on innovation and sustainability.
