Saudi Arabia Renews UN Commitment to Supporting Sustainable Development and Addressing Demographic Shifts
Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdulaziz Alwasil participated in a side event held on the sidelines of the 59th session of the United Nations Commission on Population and Development.
He stressed the importance of empowering older persons and recognizing their vital role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals, calling for enhancing their participation across various fields and benefiting from their accumulated expertise.
He highlighted the importance of boosting international cooperation to address shared challenges, noting the Kingdom’s initiative to establish the Group of Friends on Aging and Sustainable Development, which facilitates the exchange of expertise and enhances joint work among countries.
The ambassador also reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting comprehensive policies that promote sustainable development and keep pace with demographic shifts, achieving balance among different age groups and enhancing quality of life.
