Islamic University's 'Misbar' Team Wins First Place in Industrial Hackathon 2025 Automation Track
The Misbar team from the Islamic University of Madinah has won first place in the Automation Track of the Industrial Hackathon 2025, organized by the Saudi Industrial Development Fund in its fourth edition. The competition brought together a distinguished group of innovators and specialists from universities, national institutions, and companies in the industrial sector.
The winning project focuses on developing an integrated artificial intelligence system to automate the inspection of solar panel defects during production. Using multispectral imaging technologies and data analysis from production lines, the system achieves an inspection accuracy of 96.4 percent, improving inspection efficiency and speed by more than 67 percent, while reducing operational costs by over SAR800,000 annually and saving more than 400 working days each year.
This accomplishment highlights the technical and engineering excellence of the Islamic University's students, showcasing their ability to apply advanced AI solutions to real-world industrial challenges. It also reflects the university's commitment to empowering national talent and supporting innovation in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
