Municipalities Ministry Highlights Saudi Urban Success at UN Forum

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, as part of the Saudi delegation, participated in the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development at the United Nations headquarters in New York, where it delivered a presentation during a session on sustainable cities and communities.
‏Director of Urban Economy and Resilience Anmar Shabana‏ stated that Saudi Arabia adopts an integrated urban approach that coordinates the housing, municipal services, transportation, and environmental sectors, supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and improving quality of life across Saudi cities.
He noted that the Kingdom's homeownership rate reached 66.24% by the end of 2025, nearing the Saudi Vision 2030 target of 70%. Furthermore, around 75% of the population now has access to public spaces, largely driven by initiatives like the Bahja project, which has added over 12 million square meters of developed community spaces.
Shabana affirmed that the Kingdom is continually updating its regional and local city plans to increase urban development efficiency. He stressed the importance of international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and partnerships to address shared urban challenges and fulfill sustainable development objectives.
