Rain Swells AlUla’s Shallal Dam Amid Stunning Rock Formations
The dam of Shallal village in AlUla Governorate is a water source that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding rock formations, reflecting the diverse natural environment of the region.
AlUla Governorate recently witnessed scattered rainfall across several areas, contributing to increased water reserves and rising levels in its dams. Among the most notable is the Shallal dam, which recorded a significant rise in water levels, positively impacting the surrounding environment.
The dam has a storage capacity of approximately 318,000 cubic meters, a length of 130 meters, and a height of eight meters. Its spillway extends 32 meters in length and stands 5.5 meters high.
It plays a key role in supporting the agricultural sector in the governorate by replenishing groundwater, conserving water, and ensuring its availability during periods of drought.
