Falconry Soars as Cultural Tradition in Northern Borders Region

The falconry heritage in Northern Borders Region embodies a deep-rooted cultural tradition spanning many decades, supported by the region's vast desert landscape and its location along one of the most important migration routes for falcons, making it a primary destination for falconers from across the Kingdom and the Gulf countries.

Falconry has transitioned from an inherited practice to an organized sector combining heritage preservation, environmental sustainability, and specialized competitions, in line with Saudi Vision 2030's objectives of preserving and promoting national heritage. The Saudi Falcons Club plays a central role in organizing tournaments, qualifying falconers, and enhancing the Kingdom's global standing in the field.

The region hosts the annual falcon festival in Turaif Governorate, attracting hundreds of falconers, thousands of visitors, and more than 1,000 competing falcons, alongside cultural programs aimed at transmitting this heritage to younger generations.
