KSRNR Reintroduces Arabian Oryx After 90 Years of Extinction
As part of its efforts to enhance natural diversity and reintroduce endangered species to their natural habitats, the King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority (KSRNR) has released 153 Arabian Oryx in the Al-Tubaiq, Al-Khunfah, Harrat Al-Harrah areas.
KSRNR confirmed eight oryx births, highlighting that 2022 marked the first birth of the species in the Al-Tubaiq area in 90 years – the initial breeding success within the KSRNR. They added that Arabian Oryx are primarily active during early morning or evening to avoid extreme heat.
These endangered species reintroduction programs demonstrate the KSRNR's ongoing commitment to ecological balance, biodiversity enrichment, and the conservation of species depleted by environmental pressures and habitat loss.
