IsDB Affirms Commitment to Inclusive Development, Poverty Reduction at International Poverty Reduction Forum
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) stressed its commitment to inclusive development and poverty reduction during its participation in the Third International Poverty Reduction Forum, held in partnership with Uzbekistan, which brought together leaders from around the world to discuss effective solutions to accelerate the pace of poverty reduction amid global economic challenges.
IsDB President Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, in which he praised the transformative reforms being implemented by Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He stated that the social and economic initiatives in Uzbekistan represent a model to be followed in the region, and that the strategic partnership with IsDB is bringing about real change.
The IsDB Group expressed that it has contributed to mobilizing more than $4.96 billion in cumulative support, giving priority to the sectors of finance, agriculture, and infrastructure. In 2025 alone, IsDB committed more than $523 million to projects with strong social impact, including investment in healthcare, education, and rural development, according to the IsDB Group. The forum provided an important platform for launching new initiatives and enhancing knowledge exchange in digital innovation and inclusive growth.
President Mirziyoyev noted that the ongoing reforms since 2016 have contributed to lifting 7.5 million people out of poverty and reducing the national poverty rate to 8.9% in 2024, with a target of reaching 6% by the end of 2025.
He welcomed the solid partnership with IsDB and its continued support for the reform program in Uzbekistan. He praised Al Jasser’s determination to enhance the bank’s global role, including the adoption of the new 10-year strategic framework (2026–2035), stressing the alignment of IsDB’s priorities with Uzbekistan’s national strategy, particularly in the areas of job creation, private sector development, agriculture, and social development.
