From Stables to Shore: Jeddah's Equestrian Scene Thrives
Jeddah's coastline has become a vibrant showcase for equestrian enthusiasts, with young men and women demonstrating their horsemanship skills. The beach north of the governorate is a popular gathering spot for riders eager to display their control, balance, speed, and horse-taming abilities.
These riders, many of whom have completed training courses at local stables and equestrian centers, confidently navigate the sandy terrain and even venture into the sea. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) recently interviewed several women riders who are passionate about this traditional sport.
Noura Al-Shahri told the SPA that she began developing her equestrian skills two years ago through weekly training sessions at stables across the Jeddah Governorate.
Sadeem Adel credited her parents' encouragement as the driving force behind her involvement in equestrian sports. She highlighted the numerous benefits, including improved physical fitness and enhanced self-confidence.
Adel also said that the beach environment offers a unique sense of tranquility, combining the pleasure of riding with the added challenge and benefit of practicing in the sand and surf. She believes riding on the beach contributes to a rider's versatility and overall skill development.
