Inaugural Edition of Art Week Riyadh Kicks Off with Local and International Participation
The inaugural edition of Art Week Riyadh launched today, organized by the Visual Arts Commission under the theme “At the Edge”. The event features participation from more than 50 local, regional, and international galleries, cultural institutions, and art collectives. A wide range of dialogues, workshops, and art performances are scheduled across multiple cultural venues in the capital.
Art Week Riyadh aims to support and empower artists, foster cultural exchange, and showcase the Kingdom’s vibrant art scene within a global context. It offers a non-commercial platform that celebrates creative diversity and contemporary artistic expression.
Events are taking place across various locations in Riyadh, most notably the JAX District and Al Mousa Center. The JAX District hosts the main exhibition, which explores three central themes: daily life, landscapes, and ornamentation. The exhibition features more than 500 artworks by over 240 artists from more than 25 countries.
Al Mousa Center presents both solo and group exhibitions, while three curated shows are being held by invited institutions, including the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), Art Jameel, and the Saudi Research and Media Group (SRMG).
Art Week Riyadh is one of the Visual Arts Commission’s strategic initiatives, developed to strengthen the visual arts sector in the Kingdom, empower artists, and enhance Saudi Arabia’s cultural presence regionally and internationally.
