Assistant Finance Minister Participates in G7 Session on Sidelines of 2026 IMF-WBG Spring Meetings
Assistant Minister of Finance for Macro-Fiscal Policies and International Relations Abdullah BinZaraah participated in the G7 Finance Outreach Session entitled, "New International Partnerships: the Case of Critical Minerals," on the sidelines of the 2026 International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG) Spring Meetings held in Washington.
During the session, the assistant minister highlighted that the role of Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) must evolve from financiers of individual projects to architects of ecosystems by supporting early-stage exploration, crowding in private capital through innovative instruments, and anchoring long-term industrial development within producing countries.
He emphasized that MDBs cannot deliver this transformation alone, so the G7 must contribute by shaping demand through predictable offtake, open trade, and aligned industrial policies.
