Saudi Arabia's SDRPY Program Strengthens Yemen's Education Sector

Saudi Arabia, recognizing the critical role of education in Yemen's development, has launched impactful projects through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY). Education is essential for societal growth, sustainable development, and strengthening human capital.
SDRPY supports general education, higher education, and technical training through 56 projects across 11 Yemeni governorates, enhancing vital sectors. More than 30 model schools have been established with modern classrooms and laboratories, aiming to improve education quality and foster safe, active learning environments. Dedicated transportation services ensure continuous student attendance.
In higher education, SDRPY funds projects to enhance university infrastructure and research capabilities, such as 28 laboratories and Yemen's first advanced forensic research laboratory at the University of Aden, and by developing the faculties of medicine, pharmacy, and nursing at Taiz University to address health workforce shortages.
SDRPY is also establishing a technical institute and a faculty of education in Socotra, which will include classrooms and specialized laboratories to create a conducive educational environment.
The Access to Education in Rural Areas project, in collaboration with the Alawn Foundation for Development, successfully trained 150 young women in teaching, thereby increasing female educational attainment and encouraging higher education.
Moreover, SDRPY has completed 268 development projects across eight essential sectors, including education, health, water, energy, transport, agriculture and fisheries, government capacity development, and development programs.
