Saudi Arabia Enters Global Culinary Map with Launch of Michelin Guide

The Culinary Arts Commission has announced the launch of the Michelin Guide in Saudi Arabia, a move designed to elevate the quality of the restaurant sector, offer exceptional and innovative culinary experiences from around the world, and promote both cultural and culinary diversity within the Kingdom and on the global gastronomic stage.
Recognized as one of the world’s leading restaurant rating systems, the Michelin Guide evaluates establishments based on precise criteria, including the quality of ingredients, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavors, the chef’s personal expression, and consistency over time. Restaurants are ranked according to a global award system: one star signifies a very good restaurant, two stars indicate excellent cooking, and three stars represent exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey.
The collaboration between the Culinary Arts Commission and the Michelin Guide aims to raise restaurant standards in the Kingdom, showcase the diversity of its culinary scene, and foster an environment that encourages innovation and excellence through independent professional evaluation meeting the highest international standards.
The launch of the inaugural guide concluded with the announcement of selected restaurants on the 15th of each month from October to December 2025, following extensive field visits by Michelin inspectors, who explored the Kingdom’s culinary landscape and selected top restaurants in Riyadh, Jeddah, and AlUla, reflecting the development and diversity of Saudi Arabia’s gastronomy.
This first edition highlights the quality transformation underway in the Kingdom’s culinary sector and reinforces its position as a global culinary destination, supporting the growth of the hospitality and tourism industries and opening new opportunities for local chefs and restaurants to reach a wider international audience.
